SMCL ICS wins in iSITE student research tilts

Students from the Institute of Computer Studies received three awards for their researches during the 2nd Regional IT Competitions and Research Conference and Presentation, March 13. The Michaeleans' research entitled "QSearch: A question bank decision support system using query expansion algorithm" won Best Thesis. Meanwhile, another research, "Decal: Data mining clustering technique with report customization," was awarded second place. On the other hand, the group of "Kaijento: An artificial intelligence mobile game application using Minimax algorithm" was recognized 2nd Best Presenter. Integrated Southern Tagalog Association of IT Education, a group of IT educators from the Calabarzon region, sponsored the event that was held at University of Perpetual Help System - Jonelta, Biñan Campus. Michaelean volunteers teach graphic design to out-of-school youth in Balimbing

A group of volunteers from the Institute of Computer Studies had an introductory session to digital poster graphic design to out-of-school youth in Sitio Balimbing, SMCL's adopted community, on Feb 17. Members of the Computer Science Society delivered a lecture and a workshop on the use of Photoshop in designing posters. They convened at the Milagros L. Limaco Community Center in Balimbing, Barangay San Antonio in Biñan. Volunteers believe that if attendees were given the right tools, they would be able to extend their knowledge or even work part-time in small printing businesses in the district. SMCL ICS wins best research paper in UA&P's IT conference

    Michaeleans from the Institute of Computer Studies bested contenders in an I.T. research conference sponsored by the University of Asia and the Pacific held at Pearl Ortigas, Feb. 24. The research entitled "iDetek A3: Dimensional Multi view Image Analysis for Face Recognition" was hailed Best Research Paper during the Research Conference on Emerging Technology in Asia and the Pacific 201. Said paper was authored by Maria Nina L. Capunitan, Raphael Karlo A. Entena, Jean Patrick A. Luna, Fatima Michelle B. Demata, and John Carlo C. Teñido. Reynante M. Francia and Dr. Anna Liza A. Institute of Computer Studies consults with PACUCOA

Institute of Computer Studies (ICS) had a Consultancy Visit by accreditors from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), Jan. 7. PACUCOA accrediting team was headed by Dr. Conrado Inigo Jr., commissioner. Said visit was to prepare ICS for candidate status. To date, eight out of nine programs are PACUCOA accredited.
