SMCL holds climate change forum

To inform students of the updates on climate change issues, Saint Michael’s College of Laguna conducted a forum during the environmental awareness month.

“Greeneration,” the national project held annually by the Climate Change Commission had its own forum at St. Theodore Hall, Aug. 5.

Executive Director Mary Ann Lucille Sering, Vice Chairperson, Climate Change Commission led the forum entitled “One Earth, One Chance, Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change.”

Ms. Sering shared technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding of the risk of human-induced climate change.

Recognizing it as a major environmental problem facing the globe, she enumerated its effects to each person, to the community, to the country and to the world.

She showed a video presentation detailing ways to reduce global warming and possible solutions to global warming.

Ms. Sering also narrated her personal “go green” moves such as purchasing LED lights, using solar panels and minimizing the use of air-conditioners.

Michaelean audience listened as the executive director shared new breakthroughs such as the use of solar powered buses and construction of solar-powered buildings in the U.S.

Moreover she encouraged everyone to switch to clear energy, watch water use, reduce waste and go green.
